Back at that time, while I understood the general principle of more watts being better than fewer watts, I didn't understand that not all speakers were equal when it came to the required number of watts to drive them. They also didn't seem to play loud enough for me during the times I really wanted to crank things up. I found myself wanting a brighter sound - cymbals lacked pizazz. I liked the Dynaco speakers, especially for their warm lower-midrange but on the other hand, the high end seemed lacking.
