Pentax K-r Light Field Camera Review

As Pentax's entry-level SLR, the K-r ($699.95 direct with 18-55mm lens) has a bit of a storied heritage. The company's K1000 was the student camera of the 1970s-thousands of photographers cut their teeth on that 35mm SLR. The K-r offers full compatibility with the K-mount lenses used by the K1000, but that's where the similarities end. The 12-megapixel K-r is a fully automatic D-SLR with a high-resolution rear LCD and the ability to grab photos at close to 6 frames per second. The camera is a bit behind in terms of video technology-it doesn't support any type of autofocus while recording-and the bundled kit lens is pretty poor in terms of sharpness. The camera poses no danger to our Editors' Choice for sub-$1,000 D-SLRs, the Nikon D5100 ($899.99, 4.5 stars), but if you're interested in shooting with Pentax's line of compact prime lenses, take a look-assuming that you're willing to ditch the included 18-55mm lens and shoot with something of better optical quality... XnView • View topic - Problem with Pentax RAW (PEF)

I'm using XnView Pocket 1.40 at HTC Universal (also known as SPV M5000, XDA EXEC, MDa Pro, Qtek 9000 and some other names) with Intel PXA270 processor and Windows Mobile 5.0. Everything is working good but I can't open RAW files (PEF extension) from Pentax K10D digital camera. When I try to open such type of file, I get an error message: "Problem to load (path and filename)". Where is the problem? Does this version of XnView Pocket not support files from K10D - only from older Pentax digital...

Wow, where in America does it rain so hard in the month of June? curious to? know. by the way, the camera is really nice, but for an aditional 2 to 3 hundred dollars you can get a really nice DSLR. i figure, why pay 4 to 5 hundred dollars on a camera like this when you might as well save a little bit more and get yourself the real thing. just my opinion of course.

Being able to focus to 20 inches or so allows me to watch insects & spiders with as much detail as if my eye were just a couple inches from the object (if the naked eye could focus that close). To me, the quality is not noticeably different from that of the $350 birding binoculars (8x32, etc. I tried some truly bad binoculars ($100 cheapies, zoom binocs, etc. I expect that in time, you will see rave reviews on butterfly websites. These binocs are perfect for anybody who is interested in all creatures, not just birds. We used them at the Everglades and were equally pleased with the views of birds, alligators, crabs, insects, etc. Amazingly, the quality of the image is very good (for both near & far objects). They have gotten me interested in butterflying, and for this purpose they are superb....

How old is the Pentax Zoom 105-R?

I have a Pentax Zom 105-R and I would like to know how old it is and how much it is worth right now. I am guessing it's around 10 years old. I have heard that another name for it is the Pentax Zoom 105 Super.
